honoring past auxiliary board members

The Forest Lakes Fire Auxiliary hopes to honor all the past board members in a presentation on the Fourth of July, 2020. The presentation committee has gathered the names of all the past board members for a plaque. Those members are listed below. If you can help us to assure that we have the correct spelling and are not missing any elected board member from the auxiliary's inception in 1979 to the present board, please contact current President Jan Cummiskey.

September 1, 2019 Newsletter

The Forest Lakes Fire District Auxiliary would like to thank the community for their support over the Labor Day weekend. Many “I’ll Be At The Cabin” shirts were sold at both the Pancake Breakfast and the Ice Cream Social. There are still shirts available and they will be sold at our last fundraising event of the season, OktoberFest, on September 14, 2019. We are already designing a new shirt for next year, design while there are still some available.

We had a great turnout for the Ice Cream Social, even though the weather was stormy, including hail! We would like to take a minute to thank the host of volunteers who assisted in making this a successful event: They include: Helen Noyes, Steve Noyes, Cindy Preston, Karen and Joe Ruet, Linda Leather and her granddaughters, Madelyn and Addison, Alexis Long and her niece Bella, Taryn Long, Tatum Long, Brayden Long, Darien Long, Riley Bennett, Cooper Bennett, Pat and John Hennessey, Dennis Massion, Shane Williams, Paul Taylor, Sally Rottier, Faye Hubele, Debbie Terry, Renae Ramos, Mardy Zimmerman, and Tom Cummiskey. A special thank you goes out to Chief Rodriquez and his team. We appreciated all their efforts in moving trucks, tables, chairs, cleanup, etc. Thank you, also, to those who contributed the wonderful home-baked goodies for this event.

The Forest Lakes Fire District has requested that the Auxiliary assist with the purchase of a thermal imaging camera. This piece of equipment would serve several purposes and would be a valuable addition to the District’s inventory of potentially life savings tools. As mentioned earlier, our final fundraising event of the season will be OktoberFest, being held at the fire station. Dinner is served from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the purchase of this piece of equipment. We will have a cornhole tournament, live music, brats, dogs, and all the fixin’s. Because it is OktoberFest, BYOB will be allowed. Please join us for dinner and help us support this community’s great Fire Department in their needs.

Finally, we had our elections at our August meeting, and we have one new Board member, Scott Keele. We are happy to have him join our team. We would like to give a special thanks to Paul Taylor for his service over the last few years. Our current Board is now: Jan Cummiskey, Chairman, Chris Bennett, Vice-Chairman, Linda Faber, Secretary, Scott Keele, Treasurer, and Dick Zimmerman, Member-at-Large.
